Senior Spotlights: Class of 2023
We are so proud of all of our seniors graduating this year! They are all going onto do great things and we can't wait to have them involved in our new Young Alumni Circle. Get to know a few of them below!
Hillel 818’s May in Photos
Just because the semester came to the end doesn't mean Hillel 818 slowed down! From running a shuk on the CSUN campus to celebrating our graduates and our student leaders, we've made the most of the ending school year.
Hillel 818's April in Photos
April kicked off with Passover where we had the chance to indulge in many a matzoh pizza, watch The Prince of Egypt, and celebrate Mimouna to wrap up the week. Our students also learned how to cook breakfast for dinner on a budget, competed in two different Mario-themed tournaments, and wrapped up the month with Israel Week!
Alumni Spotlight: Joshua Schleien
For CSUN alum Joshua Schleien, he’s always felt like Hillel was his home… because it quite literally was for a period of time.
Student Spotlight: Cameron Sobelman
The Jewish community at CSUN is who convinced Cameron to do one of the biggest mitzvahs one can do: donating STEM cells.
Intern Spotlight: Rose Siemen
Interning for Hillel 818 has not just given Rose a new outlet for creative expression but also for finding new friends. They said, “Hillel has definitely helped me make new friends… Now that I'm in my sophomore year, I found a lot more ways to interact with people and I've even had bonding moments with people that are close to me.”
Alumni Spotlight: Leah Aldin
One aspect that has remained a constant in Leah’s life from before college through now is her sense of belonging to the Jewish community. “I grew up being very involved in my Jewish community… When I got to CSUN I wanted to keep some of that Jewish value in my life and to find Jewish classmates.”
Hillel 818’s March in Photos
March was joyful and meaningful month. For Purim we put on our best costumed and partied but also made Mishloach Manot for PATH with our community partners Repair the World and Hillside Memorial. We held our second successful Blood Drive and Gift of Life swabbing day of the year at CSUN. We closed out the month with our annual Pride Week to celebrate our LGTBQIA+ community. Keep on reading to see all we've been up to for the last month!
